Star Wars : The Old Republic : Jedi Shadow PvP Footage

The following video is a 20 minutes long remix of a high level Jedi Shadow PvP footage. Its totally fresh, it just came out of our inbox.

The sender claims the following :

The purpose of this video is to show the potential of games and demonstrate that SWTOR will allow players to create amazing, high-motion video, like in WoW.

Have fun watching !

Rumors have it that Cpt. BetaCake was once a mere mortal. In human years he would be 28 years old. Nowadays, he finds peace in sharing gaming news and leaks.

  • Danni

    First..
But damn, the pvp looks fun.. Still good gfx

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tobias-Brown/100001342904995 Tobias Brown

doesnt work in germany -.- plz upload it somewhere else!!! or take the musik out!

    • Hobs

as a tip use hotspot shield

    • GastleasCyning

Copy the youtube Link of the vid, and then paste it on http://www.hidemyass.com .
It’s a web proxy, so it dosen’t matter which country you’re in ;-)

  • Psycho

He should try harder to hide his name :/ It stopped to buffer on the intro and I could match his current HP to the groups :/

But either way, thanks alot for the vid.

  • Dystopian

Does anyone know his spec? It looks like a DPS Deception(whatever the Jedi equivalent) build but I’m not sure.

    • Wegotstory

Not sure, i’m totally guessing here. And since i’m not a math guy or testing, i’m probably wrong.

He looks like he is a Jedi Shadow. The way he is able to keep stealthing even when being hit, I’m guessing he is Infiltration tree. Or at least far enough to get the stealth bonuses. But with the amount of damage he is taking I would guess he has Kinetic combat also.

So I think he might be going for a 20/21 tree. He won’t have the top tanking/dps stuff, but i’m guessing he likes pvp. And the combined trees give him really good stealth and dps, but enough survivability to ruin your day.

    • Cannydog

Yes, it is the Infiltration spec, said so in the video notes. So you were spot on.

  • Anonymous

@13:00 – is that a companion or npc (Zarma the back stabber)?

    • Sully

Companions are not allowed in warzones

      • Anonymous

ergo my curiousity at what it is.

    • Dregs

Female trooper, spec’d to heal. (Combat medic spec).

Backstabber is simply a title that can be achieved.

  • Jonathan J

PVP doesn’t look too bad, maybe alittle too much like WoW. I would have like to know which tree this guy chose as well.

I am not sure that I agree with being able to PVP with lower levels either. they should put a cap on it around 10-30 and 31-50 or something. Watching this guy kill the level 19 in afew hits wasn’t much different than if he didn’t have the 80% stat buff

    • Anonymous

I tend to agree. I had thought the concept was solid, but videos like this brings some doubts.

      • Ass

It is only like this for BETA so that pvp queues aren’t hours long.

George said release will have soft-brackets. They are turned off for beta.

    • Wegotstory

For lower level, I think they should match 100% to the highest player. Because talents and abilities will not be gained for the lower level person. Which can make a huge difference.

80% plus the 10% pvp gear (which could swing either way) could put the lower level player down 30%. But the talents and abilities could put them down another 20%. And 50% probably equals not alot of fun for the lower level guys.

Things like stealth detection could be a big issue to. What if a level 50 still has his level 50 stealth detection, and talents that make it better? That could make a lower level stealth build’s day a nightmare. Imagine 50% weaker, and the guy can see you a mile away?

But the higher level people are only let in if there are not enough low level people to get a game going. So hopefully there are enough people your level to keep the higher level people out.

But the guy in this video was often lower level than people he was killing. So maybe it is working ok.

    • Cannydog

It said in the notes that this was an Infiltration spec

  • Jazzy

I saw a Sith Marauder ( I believe, since she was dual wielding ) wielding two swords? :O So there ar alternatives to Light Sabres??

    • Jonathan J

      All Marauders can duel wield

      • Stinky McGee

He wasn’t real clear, but I think he was asking about the marauder appearing to hold swords instead of lightsabers.

        • Guest

I had the same question, I am pretty sure it was a female sith marauder dual wielding swords. Pretty cool looking IMO.

          • Jonathan J

Ok, after rewatching it. those are definitly regular swords. She was a level 46-49 maruader (I couldn’t tell for sure even at 1080p. I would wager that they were cosmetic because she died really fast and didn’t do much damage with her hits compared to most.

          • Jonathan J

Sorry, I should also add that it was around the 15 min mark if anyone wants to check it out

          • http://space-hamster.tumblr.com/ Boo

            They’re vibroblades.

    • Wegotstory

Read some Q&A’s that said you could keep your vibroblade or whatever if you so desired. So there are altenatives to light sabres, but probably not a ton of them out there.

    • Githany

Short answer, Yes. There are some non-lightsaber options you can use and be perfectly viable.

Yes, I’ve seen those exact weapons on the female marauder on the basitlla Shan server. yes, they’re vibroblades and they look super bad-ass up close. They look like mini Final-Fantasy-7 cloud blades. They also have a bolt of electricity on the back of the blades too. All lvl 42 marauders on the bastilla shan server have those swords. They’re purple quality I believe (not moddable)

  • Dystopian

@CHaplin – Looked like a player controlled Trooper to me.

    • Maod

Finally a player who knows what he is doing.
Looking good and a very rogueish gameplay with the shadow. Thats my style. :)

    • Anonymous

Is that an option for PvP, or is it some sort of pet option?

    • Xayl1

Neither it’s a Medic speced commando.

  • RingWraith

Good to finally see a good PvP player in a warzone!

  • Dave

Video not working for me :(

  • Iloveulongtime

Very first time during all this beta-time that we see a player who’s not clueless about PvP. Was fun to watch.

  • Mr. NiceGuy

It doesn’t look bad. Actually it’s pretty nice. Maybe not that “dynamic” like Vanilla WoW was but I bet it will look very similiar in terms of dynamics with better items on players.
Just compare it to WoW classics like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOuBwKPOkRg Maydie or other great pvp videos (World Of Roguecraft, Grim pvp videos)
Imho it’s very near that “epic” feeling.

  • Wegotstory

Well either they fixed the “melee tank issues” or we finally see a melee tank in the hands of a capable pvper.

This guy is what a a Jedi Shadow? Whom according to BW embraces the synergy between melee and force combat. This guy seems to understand that synergy very well. Not sure what tree he is, but he certainly used the stealth very well. The stealth the “WOW top ranked arena reviewer” said was broken.

After seeing the BH video where a level 50 Powertech Prototype owned huttball, even scoring all the points in the match, and this Jedi Shadow owned in several instances , I’m thinking the tanks are doing just fine in pvp. This guy even beat people who were higher level than him most of the video.

This melee tank showed several times that a good melee tank has no problem closing with a ranged type. In fact he was shockingly good at closing the distance.

And did you see the refresh on his stealth? At one point he engages from stealth, there are too many people so he wisely runs away, pops stealth, gets shot, keeps running then pops stealth again. Which shows why the WOW arena guy said others could easily break stealth with AOE’s. Apparently a stealth guy can go stealth almost as fast as others can AOE ;) So i’m guessing this guy is mostly infiltration.

So um yeah, i’m not feeling sorry for all those who complained that some were using knockbacks to ruin their day in Huttball. Because after seeing this guys stealth timer refresh, and what he is capable of doing with it, i’m thinking that knockback is just fine. Because it’s just not enough to keep a good stealther off of you. At least not that Jedi Shadow ;)

I’m glad to see this video, because when BW said there was a stealth dps/tank, this is exactly what I feared I would see in pvp. A guy who sneaks up on you, beats you to death, while surving all you can throw at him, then stealth’s away to beat on some other poor carebear pvper like me ;)

But you have to wonder is he stealth dancing on your dead body ;)

As always thank you for posting this video Betacake, and thank you for the video tester.

    • Inkdodger

This is not representative of most of shadows or assassins. How he got his damage so high is something I’m wondering about, I think either some gear is bugged, bolster doesn’t work right, or gear can be exploited. Notice the guy in the epilogue that is incredibly tough to kill, I’ve seen an entire 4 man group like that and a sage or sorc with that survivability is a game breaker.

You’ll also notice that most of the video is in the Alderaan warzone. The reason for that is that stealth semi-works there because people are spread out. Notice the voidstar and huttball are short clips where he actually got the chance to stealth. Had he done a full unedited warzone you would see times where he just stands around waiting for combat to end. The in combat re-stealth is a 3 minute cooldown so the cooldown isn’t nearly as fast as you’ll be shot out of stealth.

The ranged in that video were dumb. He did not face a single decent PvPer. That is why it is an edited video, he has to make himself look good. That is why it’s all in alderaan and against dumb players. Do not think this is what will happen if you roll a shadow or you will be disappointed. More often then not you will be cannon fodder for ranged and certainly not doing that much damage, unless of course you figure out the gear exploit or bug that causes it.

    • Rex

This guy isn’t specced like a tank nor he is wearing tank gear. He’s playing the dps tree and his health actually drops quick when he gets attacked. The reason he’s surviving is hes using potions to pop his health up and when he shines yellow hes using the 100% evasion for 3 seconds ability aka Cloak of Shadows.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Amer-Madesko/1576149328 Amer Madesko

        It’s 6 seconds.

    • with roses dawg

‘this melee tank’ – he’s specced infiltration, therefore is dps. kinetic combat is the tank spec for shadows.

  • anotherbetatester

lol? guy is okay, but every single player he went up against was retarded.

80% were keyboard turners, the other 20% didnt even bother with the keyboard, they just stood still.

no offense, i appreciate the video , we can see what kind of damage the class does and how it goes about it, but dont put cliche music and for the love of god, show clips of decent opponents.. everyone you fought was pathetic..

hate to be negative but it was just glaring throughout the entire video.

    • Wegotstory

Your not being negative, your just pointing out that BW decided to keep the circle jerk in to keep the “hardcore” pvpers happy.

Then they took out macros. Which hurt the keyboard turners even more. But helped the players that use game mice and keyboards that much more. As the gamer stuff adds macros regardless, giving a bigger advantage to those who don’t need it.

These type of one sided pvp videos are common in games that use the circle jerk mode of combat. But don’t have autoturn to counter it.

But in the name of exploits and putting the advantage even more in favor of the already skilled player BW took out autoturn. And it’s funny because autoturn won’t make a difference between two skilled pvpers. As they both know how to deal with the circle jerk. So really the only reasons to not allow autoturn in pvp is to allow the skilled players an exploit type advantage on keyboard turners. Who without autoturn can’t defend themselves.

That and maybe it makes it look like the pvp is a lot more exciting to those who are watching videos of the pvp.

If BW let autoturn in, half of these guys would of actually done some damage to the guy in the video ;)

      • Anonymous

Yes, it’s easy to suck at PvP in this game, and the vast majority of people in beta and shortly after release are going to be absolutely terrible. Personally, I like improving how I actually play, not just the gear my character is using.

      • Rex

You’re actually advocating for autoturn in PvP? You can’t have it because some classes rely on positional attacks. Autoturn would break them..

      • Mal

wait… you are asking them to add features so good players won’t destroy bad players? what!?!

  • Brunoh23

Its a very nice video indeed, loved it, ive been looking for a shadow gameplay for quite some time.
But.. truth be told, the guys you faced were terribad players, just plain horrible.. they barely moved around, there was a marauder that probably cried trying to hit you while keyboard turning..

  • MVW

Why do people run around when dueling?

    • Ass

I beleive shadow have a backstab move, he kind of has to run around to get behind them.

    • Snaredrums

gives further advantage against bad players who turn too slow, or finish casting abilities, looking in the wrong direction, etc. also there might be some positional attacks they’re trying to land (from behind, from the sides..).

i personally find it annoying to watch, especially if they jump along with it. there is however a cure for that, and its called SNARE.

  • Crimp

Why do people put this crappy music in their videos? The video is nice, but the music sucks monkey balls.

  • Gaxar

at last a decent pvp vid – yes the people he slaughtered may have been crap, but the vid is excellent at showing the visuals of the assassins moves and pvp from someone who doesnt have downs syndrome – exactly what i was looking for to seal the deal on rolling one as my main.

big thanks to the poster for this

  • StevieGo

That knockback on the bridge reminds me so much of the lava in that one Warhammer scenario (Tor Anroc I believe?) I loved knocking people back into the lava and watch them try to jump out. I can see myself having a lot of fun kicking people off that bridge, as well as a lot of tears and rage from the people receiving the kicking.

    • Anonymous

Huttball is really where knockbacks shine. It awesome when someone picks up the ball and then promptly ends up face down in an acid pool thanks to Force Push.

  • Thrasymicus

That was some really tasty cake! looks like i will need to roll a shadow along with my sage! om nom nom nom

  • Adama

Now i’m sure i’ll never roll a Jedi Shadow. Compared to the Jedi Knight his melee moves are just plane boring to watch. 2 or 3 animations, that’s all? Lol no way i gonna play that class. Now i’m all prepared to roll a Jedi Knight Guardian. If you are looking for a Guardian dying for his friends, look out for Uridan on a german PvP-RP server. See you at launch! o/

  • Voltan

    That was fabbo. Thank you!

  • Nedly747

I find it funny how people always say, oh this video is shit because the player sucks at pvp, OR hes not good at PvP, its just that everyone he is fighting sucks!!.

THINK about it. 70% of players are nothing special or suck anyway so what does it matter. what you should be taking away from these videos is the potential and the abilities these classes have.

The majority of fights will be against bad players so these videos will give you a measure of what classes can do.

    • anotherbetatester

noone said it was shit because he sucked.. in fact… they all just said what you said.. before you said it..

      • Nedly747

My opening phrase was more of a generalisation as to the mindset of how people react. Not, totally based on the responses here.

what I was more refering to – Let me quote you “show clips of decent opponents.. everyone you fought was pathetic..”

The point being, decent oponents are not a majority. Its not what you see in infomation leaks. You will find them when the game releases. But for the Most Part, this video represents what most pvp encounters will be. “pathetic” as you call it, is the gaming majority these days.

        • anotherbetatester

          wrong. completely wrong.

by decent, it is to say – they dont keyboard turn, they dont stand still. theres plenty of “decent” players in the beta. theres not many “good” players, but theres plenty of “decent” ones.

he might as well have hit a target dummy for 23 minutes. if you think this video represents what most pvp encounters will be, not only are you probably terrible at the game (assuming youve actually played the beta), your inexperienced at mmo’s and have no idea what your talking about.

then again, i could tell by your original comment this was this case, so typing this entire thing out is a moot point. i quit

          • Nedly747

“wrong, completely wrong” is a pretty short sighted response.

I dont know what games you have been playing, but in my experience, unless you form a premade group for PVP of proven individuals in ANY game, around only 30 % of the people you play with will be in the decent/good bracket. Making them a minority. Thats not to say you cant have “plenty” of players in a minority.

Its been that way in any game Ive played, through FPS, MMO, RTS and MOBA

          • Githany

I’m sick of those people that claim they’re so much better than everyone else at PVP. They aren’t. Those who claim everyone else sucks at PVP are at a disadvantage because they think PVP in TOR is all about jumping up and down, turning with the mouse, and keeping moving. They are so stuck on what worked in other MMOs they don’t take the time to learn what the most important things are in TOR’s PVP.

Sometimes you just want to tell a Jedi “Stop jumping, it doesn’t stop sith-warrior charge!” or tell the sniper to stop running around. I had one raid leader in huttball claim the Empire was overpowered in PVP and said they always win even though they are a bunch of “keyboard turners”. I explained that every single class is a 100% mirror right down to the smallest of skills, and he still didn’t get it.

TOR’s pvp relies more heavily on tactics than mouse dexterity. A good PVPer may just sit still for long periods of time watching the turret objective in the middle of Alderaan or be running and turning with the keyboard while using their mouse to aim their huttball pass. There are some truely great PVPers in beta right now, but none so far have I EVER seen insult other players or use the phrase “keyboard turner”. They’re too busy actually learning TOR’s PVP to worry about WOW’s PVP.

  • BigBob

Thank you for this video. It was the first PvP I’ve seen that shows how skill can make a difference. Thanks to the tester who filmed this too; good stuff.

    • Ass

50 Op and Shadow are the most deadly things in the last build. Althoug he did have skill, its still an uphill battle to beat one of those – if not impossible for some classes (Gunslinger/Sniper have NO chance)

  • Anonymous

From what you can see it seems this person was much higher in level then those he was fighting against. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be killing them so fast.

Boriingg!!!! It doesn’t show anything but someone ganking lowbies. Nothing else.

    • Nedly747

he was playing in warzones bro. This means hes fighting = in lvl or boosted oponents…perhaps even higher leveld oponents

    • Dummycrash

He fights lvl 50′s with his lvl 40 multiple times … so you are wrong :P

    • Dregs

Turn up your resolution then buddy.

He is level 40 and taking on many 40+ opponents and pwning them.

    • FatalFallen

Oh how wrong you are… everyone is brought up to something close to being equal and in this video he kills multiple level 50s.

I’ve pvped on my lvl 39 sorc and been destroyed by lvl 25s in mer seconds.

  • Nijraw

This got me ready to roll Shadow, thanks for the upload.

  • Samatrain

Watch the vid for what it is. People who even know how to vid capture tend to be some of the better players. MOST of who he fought was terrible. Every single class played by a good player will have an exact same vid just like this … pwning noobs. Some AC’s also do scale better at lower levels. The tanks very much so. Notice at the beginning when the shadow took on a scoundrel and almost lost. Scoundrels/operatives only get tougher at higher levels and they aren’t tanks.

  • Samatrain

Er switch scoundrel with operative lol. Got me sides mixed up :)

  • Question

I’ve got a question. I’ve seen in some earlier videos SithA in stealth while wielding their saber. Is there an option to sheathe your saber so you’re completely invisible? It seemed like in this Shadow video his light saber disappeared briefly while stealthing.

    • FatalFallen

yes hitting the Z button does this

  • Boring

One issue I see is the balancing. The GCD needs to be either shortened or specific abilities need to be taken off the cool down. It feels like once you use a force ability it puts everything on CD except a basic attack.

  • Garr

They really need to adjust the running speed in this game. It looks really slow.

    • Voltan

I disagree… I can’t stand Benny Hill PvP. If look carefully you can see at times he uses sprint and maybe a Force Run-like ability. Let’s keep comedy run speeds out of TOR.

  • http://twitter.com/lkslisitsin Aleksandr Lisitsin

moar like this! :) great job

  • Anonymous

Doesnt look compelling. If I squint its wow

    *oh no he di ‘int*

In all seriousness though. Despite this looking like an adequate new traditional MMO, I opt out of MMO’s for now. When something comes along that feels more “next gen” I may try the genre again.

  • Dante

what’s song is this, at 19:55(epilog)?

    • Jdog

Lights – Ellie Goulding (Dubstep Remix) [HD]

    • Epi

search for Lights- Bassnectar remix is the official dubstep remix not the amateur one shown in the video.

  • Jan

    Thanks for the insight. +1

  • Nunya

You also have to realize these are level 40 premades on the Bastila Shan server, so you’re seeing a lot people that are unfamiliar with their characters.

  • Nunya

Oh and many of the premades on BS had busted ass gear you couldn’t even PvE your own level content with, so it’s not a surprise some of the people in the video drop really fast.

  • Pontifex

While I’d have to agree that it’s nice to finally see a PvP video with someone that knows his class and doesn’t keyturn, this video isn’t all that great imo.
This video was edited in such a way, that it made the player in question look good, not to make the class look good.
Some things I thought were good:

    - Most important to me were multiple one on one fights against different classes.
    - Good timing of cc at several occasions.
    - Good show of movement for the Shadow.
    - Nice compilation of where to use knockbacks strategically.
    - Showing actual defense in a Warzone, instead of just farming kills.

However some things that were painfully clear watching this:

    - Dont just show winning fights. Also show fights where you lose and perhaps even say why.
    - Don’t show 2 vs 1 fights where you come out on top. Come on, that’s silly and not ‘heroic’ at all.
    - Don’t show too many fights, where your opponent is already damaged, that’s too easy.
    - Don’t show fights where your opponent isn’t focussing you. Free kills…what does that proof?
    - Don’t show fights where you get healed by a friendly player and your opponent is not.
    - DON”T TRY TO LOOK SMART, by using your long cd in combat stealth at 5% hp to get away where you would’ve lost normally.
    - DON”T TRY TO LOOK SMART, using a potion that brings you from 10% to 90% instantly, so you won’t die.

Now I don’t say that you shouldn’t use them in combat, just don’t use them to show off in video’s.
Why? Because it has nothing to do with skill or combat awareness.

If you ask me, this video could’ve been so much better advertisement for the Shadow if it woud’ve had more nuance in it. People might’ve actually liked it because of the playstyle, instead of making it look overpowered at times.

    • Robdiesel82

Is this kid serious? All of the things he said should be left out are what comprise real PvP. Please don’t procreate and contaminate the gene pool.

    • Nedly747

what the…….all the “donts” you listed are the norm of minigame/warzone fights

dont use in combat stealth or pot to make you look smart by not dying? what kind of a comment is that

this isnt dueling 1 on 1 in a controled environment. this group pvp in warzones. its not about fair.

This isnt about making the player look good. Its about showcasing some game footage of the shadow to the community.

      • Pontifex

Idiots like you two who don’t actually read full posts. It’s sad, but unfortunately true.

        Quote:
“Now I don’t say that you shouldn’t use them in combat, just don’t use them to show off in video’s.”
“If you ask me, this video could’ve been so much better advertisement for the Shadow if it would’ve had more nuance in it.”

If you start using your intelligence, instead of blurting nonsense, then you might get somewhere.
Giving a good beta impression of a class helps people more than just showing off!

        • ihatebirds

wow. those people disagree with you rationally and suddenly they are idiots? they need to start using their intelligence and stop blurting nonsense? stop raging, they were right; it is a giant warzone with tons of people running around killing each other, very very rarely do you come upon an opponent with full life and no other allies or enemies nearby, then have a straight up fight with them without using any cooldowns or potions.
its cool and entertaining to run into 2 guys, kill one, then blow your stealth cooldown and get away clean. its cool to show of some crazy burst crits you got on some guy who was at half life, killing him instantly.
have you never seen a pvp video of this kind before? this video was clearly influenced by the amazing classic video pat pvp. if you dont know what im talking about go to youtube and watch pat pvp.
you seem to have missed the point of the video entirely. its not instructional. he defiantly isnt going to show fights where he lost and then explain went wrong. that is not the point at all. the point is its entertaining to watch this guy pwn, and to show how exciting and fun swtor pvp can be.

          • Pontifex

They didn’t come with arguments, neither did they read the full post. That’s not a sign of intelligence. No just rather call someone “kid” because you didn’t read the reason why I posted it in the first place.

What I said was that the video could’ve been so much better with some nuance and that it gave a distorted picture of a class.
You mentioned the Pat video’s. Well if you’re such a fan, then you know he was man enough to show himself dying. Usually against the odds, but at least he doesn’t pretend to be unkillable.

Pwning people when you have a med pack that brings you almost to full health instantly, where your opponent doesn’t have it, is kind of sad.
Ofcourse you would use them in Warzones, anyone would, but don’t show it off as “ow I’m so great.”

i agree that the video could have been better. it was not nearly as good as pat pvp, but better videos will come out once the game is release and the people become good at the pvp. i think everyone was just really appreciative to finally see a very well done pvp video. Imo, there was no reason to try and bag the guy for little details that dont distract from the vid at all, and certainly no reason to insult the people who disagree with you.

Regardless of the PvP “technicalities”, the game looks great! I wonder what his system specs are? This movies is actually one of the longest andmost intesting leaks I’ve ever seen of SWOTOR. Many thanks to the leaker!

TBH, in mycase they did BW a favour as I am even more hyped for the game than I was before.

In the beta I’m in I haven’t done much pvp and what I have done has been all hutball which I hate. But I’ve only pvped on my sorc. it feels like a faster paced wow pretty much it’s nothing great and I doubt I spend much time doing it. Coming from have two high warlords in vanilla wow and a 2400+ arena rating 3 years in a row what tors pvp brings to the table isn’t anything new. Thank god the pve is amazing.

I don’t wanna seem biased or anything but overall SWTOR PVP is actually decent. Some classes aren’t as good as others, obviously, but they constantly work on them and to be honest, most level 50 toons are very enjoyable to play. After my 5th builds and direct involvement with class changes on multiple occasions, I can say that majority of the people who bitch and cry are just idiots who never get beyond level 20… and want their toons to perform just like the level 50s. Personally, I have leveled 6 different classes to 50 and had a blast on each one. Every single one brings something unique to the game, be it, enemy pulls, friendly pulls, friendly leaps, leaps and rocket jumps and so on and so forth.

I know many of you are surprised that this dude does such good damage… that’s mainly cuz you never see someone who actually knows how to play leak footage and such. I don’t know.. Star Wars may not be the end all to MMOs but it’s a very good game, has extreme potential and the devs are trying really hard to appease the masses by doing what they need to do to change the game for the release.

    P.S.

If you’re an idiot and actually didn’t read my post… Yea, this is from personal experience.. I been testing for past 7 months.

As an honest question, what is your take on the IA and Smuggler? Do you think they are handicapped, or that the cover system is in need of improvement?

      • Ewok, jr

Melee IA/Smugglers are amazing atm.. Me and my buddy, 50 OP/50 Sorc, took on 5-6 dudes at a time and beat the living snot out of them. He did some amazing damage and with their healing re-done he can do some decent healing.. It’s not something crazy but he can effectively re-set a fight by going from 30% to full rather easy. They posses a lot of usefull CC, AoE blinds and of course stealth that allows them to easily close gaps and fight when they need to. One thing I heard him say was that they didn’t have to many gap closers once out of stealth but he didn’t mind at all since he seem to kill most peeps in good 3-5 seconds.

As far as Snipers and such go. It’s a bit harder to play them. First off all, they are effective and can do crazy burst damage you just have to multitask since portable cover doesn’t respect GCD.. Their shots also imobilize people which is awesome since it doesn’t build up their CC immunity and can change the outcome of battles. You know, some people don’t like to stand still and that’s me but cover does make it so people don’t leap to you or pull you or stuff like that. So you can set up and ledges and blast them to shit easy.

care to comment on this “friendly Pull, and friendly leap”???. one of the Devs mentioned Sage has freindly pull. Care to elaborate? I assume its like a grapple hook effect but on a friendly. I think this is an awesome mechanic. Although it could be used for greifing friendlies.

friendly leaps is news to me though. Care to go into more detail?

      • RocketQueen

yea, certain classes have pulls that pull their allies to them, certain classes have leaps that allow them to leap to their allies, almost all melee have a enemy leaps and certain classes have pulls that allow them to pull their enemies to them.

I am not seeing the ‘diversity’ that BW claims would exist in the game.

To me it looks like a bunch of humans and a few Twileks battling it out, in stead of 10 different races.

It lacks a ‘Star Wars’ feel I was hoping to see — looking more like a different IP with spells and light sabers.

They got full sets of gear that you can wear to look like sand people and or any other iconic characters from the star war movies. Basically, I wouldn’t say that their character selection is totally amazing but their gear selection is awesome. For example, the sand people set, you can buy and it’s epic gear with full mod slots. This means that you can effectively, if you do have a sand people fetish, constanly MOD UP your gear to match anything at the appropriate level… which then means that your awesome, OMG I LOOK LIKE THAT GUY FROM THE MOVIE GEAR, will actually be effective and USEFULL just like anything else.

I’m rather surprised that after three days on Youtube this movie is still up. Could it be that they recognise good free advertising when they see it? Maybe, since the game is probably less than seven weeks form Early Access.
