Star Wars : The Old Republic : Eyefinity Screenshots

Today we found something special in our inbox. John, one of the beta testers sent us a bunch of amazing screenshots that represent what it would look like if you played SWTOR with an AMD gfx card and a 3-way Eyefinity setup.

Warning, the images are huge, both in resolution and size. It will take a while for them to load.

Rumors have it that Cpt. BetaCake was once a mere mortal. In human years he would be 28 years old. Nowadays, he finds peace in sharing gaming news and leaks.

To tell you the truth, screens just don’t do the game any justice. You have to see it in game for yourself to be truly amazed with it. The environments and details are just awesome to behold, my wife played on her computer on low settings and it still looked good. She was running a AMD 3800+ single core processor with a Radeon 2600 HD, but she was able to play. I ran with a Pentium(R) Dual Core and a Radeon 5570 HD with everything on max, and no performance issues. The game was just gorgeous, and I really don’t understand all of the graphic complaints I hear from people on MMO forums.

This. ^^^ Completly agree. Pretty much everyone on Iron Citadel the server I was on had nothing but fantastic things to say in general chat. Every person i spoke/grouped with was enthralled in this game. Smoothest beta I’ve ever participated in. I crashed only twice in at least 18+ hours of playing this weekend, I crash more often playing APB and i’ve been playing that game for like 6+ months now.

I was on Whitebeam Run server, and everybody was having a blast, I was surprised that I didn’t see any “this game sucks” text. Some people were like asking could they still pre-order because they had changed their minds about the game. There were even some SWG vets that were impressed by what they saw, and that’s saying a lot.

I was actually on that server too! I played under the name Athaena (trooper)

    • IASIP

      Seriously…I don’t see what’s to complain about…

ALTHOUGH I do have one thing to say…

I played it, and I do understand what some people are saying about “customization”, I’ll admit, they could throw in a few more things into Player creator but its not game breaking…well except for one….

FOR GOD SAKE GET RID OF THE MALE OVERWEIGHT /FACEPALM

      • Crimp

Yeah I didn’t like that last body type, I have never had an issue with customization in an MMO, But I did feel like that there was not enough options when I was making my character. It is what is though, I can say this I didn’t see anybody else that looked like any of my 2 toons

      • Jschatt

Some people want to play a chubby guy…

    • Gordon

Agree. I was in the beta this weekend and it looks so much better than any screenshot or video can show. The game runs really smooth and stable.

  • Dendrofili

dear Santa… looks like i gotta get hold of 3 identical screens + a stand for it.. this looks awesome, thx for the cake!

  • IASIP

I wanna play this game on max settings, I am going to have to get a new graphics card……Hell I want to build a computer…BUT time constraints prevent me from truely enjoying the game the way I want to, that said, I’ll brb I need to end my wow account

  • Darky

I wonder how it will look on my 47″ LG LED – unfortunately I cant buy me 2 more of them for Eyefinity :D

    • http://twitter.com/JohnJiao John Jiao

A huge screen might actually be against your interests in this case, because even a really high-end graphics card will only be able to run 2560×1600 pixels, which will still look stretched on a really large screen. I have three 27″ monitors, and the textures still look a bit jagged at times because of the resolution restrictions.

One of the downsides of a game with an art style like this one! Still, I’m sure it’ll look gorgeous on the massive screen.

    • Zone

It looks really Good! I played this past weekend on my 47″ and I didn’t see any jagged edges or any stretching images. Only played it on 1920×1080. Newish computer ran it with fps at 50-70.

I played this weekend also. I admit, I had to play on the lowest settings on my computer and still struggled. But even though I didn’t see it on the highest settings, I have a hard time believing these shots show the game on high settings. They don’t even have shadows turned on. It’s kinda neat seeing the panorama, but I really don’t think these shots show what the full settings look like.

i have to say it…. i been following this site for leaks and stuff about this game and i finally got into beta weekend and let me tell you….. its so freaking nice!!!!

With Eyefinity you really see the limitations of having a fixed user interface. See how the minimap is all the way over to the far left? If you could adjust the User Interface you could position that in a better position on the center monitor.

Not having a configurable UI is really ridiculous in a modern MMO. There are so many different playstyles and ways that people are accustomed to setting up their User Interface. These people are going to have to re-learn a new interface, and they had better like it or else!

Has anyone heard of any news that before launch they will change and update the User Interface’s capabilities?

    • http://twitter.com/JohnJiao John Jiao

Yep I’ve been petitioning in the beta forums for a customizable UI. The distance between my left Action Bar and my right Action Bar is over six feet.

  • alltheinternetz

what graphics card setup are you running with this? I am definitely going to blow a bunch of money creating an eyefinity setup for this game. Beta was way too much fun. and these screens look great

    • http://twitter.com/JohnJiao John Jiao

I’m using 2x MSI R6970 Twin Frozr III (940 MHz) which are kind of overkill, since I originally got them for BF3. You could probably run Eyefinity with SWTOR on a single 6970; more important is your connection, most likely.

During certain Coruscant sections however, even my framerate dropped below 60. It was never too noticeable though.

      • alltheinternetz

ay carumba! thats a pricey setup. I ran a single 465 on max. Friday fr in the 55-65 range but the rest of the weekend it degraded very badly. Not sure if it was my card or just the server.s

thinking about going ATI for the eyefinity (my mb supports xfire but not SLI) but the reason i got the nvidia card in the first place is PHSYX looked really awesome. Too bad nothing supports it.

        • http://twitter.com/JohnJiao John Jiao

Definitely get NVidia. Having used ATI exclusively for the past few years, I can wholeheartedly say that I will not be returning to ATI in my next upgrade. NVidia’s Surround is more or less on the same level as Eyefinity, so there is now little reason for me to stay.

People shouldn’t have to wipe their computers of ATI drivers then install the appropriate older patch in order for their gfx to be functional.
