ArcheAge : Castle Siege / PvP [Pirate vs Spade]

There was a siege yesterday on ArcheAge, sadly I was afk and couldn’t be there to record the whole thing. Thankfully, the Russians who play the game did, since they actively participated in the siege. The footage you’ll find below comes from archeagerussia.ru and the guys had catapults and all that good stuff.

We’ve figured that during sieges, the areas around castles on the third continent become contested and everything is up for grabs. Simply put, the whole island is on fire. Your house, your farms, your guild’s castle and assets can all be attacked and destroyed by the enemy.

Imo this is an awesome way to keep the PvP and PvE crowd somewhat seperated. At least during sieges. So if you don’t want your house to be burnt down to ashes and have your precious resources stolen, then stay off the third continent!

Anyway, enjoy the video below!

Rumors have it that Cpt. BetaCake was once a mere mortal. In human years he would be 28 years old. Nowadays, he finds peace in sharing gaming news and leaks.

Not being able to walk through other characters musk suck when trying to go to one place at the same time, else its just me and the way most MMOs are…

No its better having collision. Most MMOs are not good in that department as you said.

Well, it seems like it would be better to actually prevent people from running through you in a narrow stair case or something trying to defend a room upstairs.

        I agree.

In some older games people would just run through the “not-so-important” targets during a siege and just get to where they wanted by ignoring them.

        Not anymore. Collision detection FTW!

CBT4 started on December 8th 2011 and its actually about to end, more or less about a week left.

There will be a CBT5 after it, nothing set on stone yet though and I hope XLGAMES enjoyed our coverage of the game so far and will let us play it again next time.

Not a big fan of seeing the screen cluttered with so many life bars. I’d rather they be semi-transparent or something like that so it didn’t detract so much from the visual of the combat.

its important to have lifebars in pvp. what annoys me though is the SIZE of those bars. they’re like twice or 3 times as high as im used to. and also those huge numbers everywhere.
numbers CAN also be important, but they should be alot smaller imho. or maybe just your own numbers displayed.

too much screaming “GAME” for me with all those huge healthbars and numbers. they’re overshadowing everything when they should just accompany it.

I’m sure they will add ways to not see all the life bars and the damage/healing spam. Other than that game looks awesome. Cry3 ftw.

      There’s already options for that.

Pressing Ctrl + V shifts between 3 UI modes, mostly affecting the friendly, hostile and NPC names and healthbars.

I’ll take screenshots of it tomorrow.
